Please help....I am looking for any information regarding Raymond Cameron. In 1967 my mom Vivian Shallow [Sister of Shirley Gauvreau] got pregnant with me and I would like to find my biological father ~ Raymond Cameron. In fact Vivian Shallow worked at the Orient Restaurant and the Busy Bee and remembers that he was with a company ~ a crew working on roads, not sure of the name of the company however any assistance is greatly appreciated. Mr. Raymond Cameron was married with children at the time and does not know I even exist....thanks for your help!

Awsome sight, love the history of my home town and miss it a lot. The pictures are awesome. Still get home from time to time to visit with family and friends and of course to go fishing.

I have many memories and photos of Temagami from the '50s. My aunt and uncle [Phyllis and Gordon Stevens] owned Stevens Island, where I learned to swim, fish and canoe. Those were wonderful summers. The old log cabin has burned down, but Aunt Phyl made the most amazing blueberry pies in a wood stove there. I'm sad I could never take my kids back to experience it... the island was sold years ago.

Great site!
I lived on an island on Lake Temagami growing up [1971 - 1982]. I went to the Temagami Public school and then high school in New Liskeard.
My Dad [John Johnston] looked after a kids camp on Temagami Island called Wabikon. I may still have some pictures from that era kicking around if your interested.

I clearly remeber starting from Toronto and taking the Ontario Northland train to Temagami station, and then boarding the Aubrey Cosens an exciting boat ride for a very young camper in 53 and as a councillor in 63 at Camp Temagami. It is an experience few will have in their lifetime in an area of our country that to this day gives you a true feeling of how remote and yet so beautiful our north can be. To that end I am getting ready to produce a film about camps in the area, camping, canoe trips, the lake, the town. I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who has experienced Camp Temagami or Metagami or Keewaydin.

Great site. Glad to get the redirect. We're looking forward to another quick visit in late Dec. We stay at Northland Paradise and have for the last few winters and spend our visits in summer at the park. We keep coming back to re energize and we're needing it now.
Thanks again

I don't know who the person was who sent me this site, but I am enjoying the memories more than you will ever know. I have not been north for many years because I can no longer travel. I lived in Marten River the last 6 years I was north. My family had a cottage on Big Marten since 1953 where we spent every summer. We always went into Temagami for shopping and to take guests out for a meal and sightseeing - or to grab a ride on the plane - sometimes just to get a change of fishing experience. My children still get up for their yearly holidays and could not ask for more. God's country for sure.
Thank you, whomever it was that sent the site.
